Hi Andy
Did you have any particular application in mind? Are you looking for bass extension for a home sub or efficiency for PA use. I think that the 18" PD drivers are quite suitable for PA usage in a tapped horn, and used with a decent hi-pass filter should be able to take conciderable amounts of power before running out of x-max. I haven't built any of the speakers that I have modelled up yet, but have a mate who has 8 off PD1850 drivers so its something that I am working on.

Hi Xoc1,
Looking to use for PA applications from 35 up to about 90 Hz to get as much thump as I can out of 4 drivers so if OK will make four of 'em and hopefully make some eyes move :-) Cheers, Andy |

Hi Andy,
Wasn't sure, At first I simulated for home use, not for PA in particularly. Here is an PA attempt: b

Looks even better in terms of SPL, Frequency range and Impulse response....
Next step: get some box dimensions worked out, build a prototype.. Will let you know how it turns out! A |

Hi Andy
Bjorno,s sim looks very good, but are you OK with the size of these speakers. They will be the same sort of size as J Bells large tapped horns. Look at post 38 here:- jbell's set of four tapped horns IE: OK for an install, but not really what most people would concider portable! In fact if you substitute the PD186 parameters into Dons sim for the J Bell cab it works well. Probably would need a minor tweek to lengthen the baffle to suit the 18" driver. |
