Trying to get the most from some 4inch woofers in a small hatchback.
the resonant frequency of the car is 51Hz. so, can I make a 51Hz transmission line, with the front exiting at the rear, so, its a loop of PVC pipe, with the two ends meeting about 2.5cm from each other... if that makes sense. I'll draw up a diagram of what I mean in a minute. ![]()

1. I wouldn't have the 2 openings firing at each other with such a small gap, it will change the response, if you must do it that way, make the gap at least the diameter of the pipe wide.
2.TL/horns ect will drop in frequency when loaded in a vehicle, some of my really big TL's peak 10hz lower in the car than they do outside, so you'll have to keep that in mind. |

folded horns that I've tried in the car will normally peak at the vehicles resonant frequency, assuming they play low enough |

I tried this out using some cheapo crappy stock 4inch speakers...
well, it made noise, not as loud as expected, and the woofer fried in about 5 seconds... so, I'm really not sure if I got the gain I was expecting or not, and I'm guessing the 10 watt speaker didn't like 50+watts... has anyone played with tapped horns much in car? |

and now I've just realised I had the high pass filter set at 80Hz while trying to play 51hz.. not that it would have made much difference as the woofer smoked anyway
