A lot of what the driver can do is up to the cabinet it's in. A tapped horn is known for amount while a sealed cabinet is often the "nicest" sound. How large of a cabinet can you have? If you can handle a tapped horn size you may get the gut rattling you require. How large is your listening environment?

Tight bass I equate to a sealed enclosure, gut wrenching needs something else unless you have multiples of large woofers and oodles of power so you're kind of asking for something that's hard to do especially if you're in an apartment. Have you considered how your neighbours might feel about this?
