I am not referring to a Wayne Parnham, how does he spell that?

I am talking about the Horn I started about 4years ago. I estimate it has room loading between Pi and Pi/2.

It will be 8m long and 3.6sqm mouth area. Driven by 4 or 5 Tannoy low Q 15" bass units. I have not decided whether to make a straight horn or to fold the smaller Throat half to fit it into the loft. The Mouth half is built into the floor and roof structure of my bedroom and bathroom loft space.

Remember this? In the last picture you can see how your SS15 looses it's effectiveness when driving harder. This is the result of BL dropping and complex air mass and speed changes. That's why I asked you a while ago to measure your SS15 at full load. And this is the real key for improvement.

Or does anyone design PA cabs for 1V/1m use or believe HornResp predictions at Xmax and *higher*...

(*higher* = [Xmax +Xlim] : 2 )
With the furybox and its predecessors, I tweaked the box in horn resp at both 1v1m and operating level based on the clip points. I then tweaked back and forth to find the best balance. I added compression via the baffle to protect the woofer a bit more. The rest had to be done by physical trial and error to get the sound I was after.
IMO On reflectors, it seems sometimes only one in the right place fixes standing wave issues in the 90-100hz region enough for low budget.

The ss15 looks like a good build.

I have 4 SS15s 2 with the 3015LF and 2 with a JBL 15... I can't recall the model number.. I have been running the 2 with the 3015 LF for almost a year now... December of 10 was when I used the 3015 for the first time.... I have been overpowering these things like crazy, and I probably wouldn't recommend it... I have a QSC 2402 which I run bridged mono to 2 speakers and run all my levels as close to 0db as possible with the occasional clip here and there, then I back it down... the pic above was taken from the 3rd floor and the ceiling went as high as the 5th floor... This place is Huge.. I think this has been one of the biggest challenges for my speakers and for this party I felt like I needed another pair.. The EVs (Mains) they Rock! The ss15 they rock too but the people wanted them louder...

Gents, still making my way through this entire thread but thought I'd ask a quick question. Is consensus still the 3015LF for bang for the buck? These look to be right around $300-$325. Is there a 4ohm alternative that models similarly like one of the faital pros? With just a single, a 4ohm variant would make the most from my amp.
Thanks in advance.

Hi!

B&C 15CL76, plus restriction at throat (round form indicated by jbell), already tweaking but appears a candidate...

Links to photo site with porn ads removed. Please read the rules!

I like the result.

15NDL76 may be a good try.

Happy Christmas to all!

Regards,

Yup it was right around when I bought my first one. Damn China and their neo prices.

I think the 3015lf was a great balance of weight, efficiency, x Max and price at the $150-200 price point. Now at $300+....ehh id look elsewhere.

If you can deal with a few extra pounds, check out some non neo drivers to keep price down. I'd rather carry 10 more pounds and have an extra hundred in my pocket.
