I was thinking what is better ............ a single 18 inch sub or multiple 8inch or 10 inch subs ...... which will be louder ???????
I have a 500W amp
which configuration can reach lower frequency limits say may be 5-10hz .....
I am gonna use sealed boxes as they r easier to design.....
help me out

If you can have multiple subwoofers in separate room locations you should have smoother deeper bass.
But if your 8" sub is not capeable of deep bass (kind of dependent on multiple factors including cabinet size, driver specs, you may be better off with one larger unit.
I use a Vandersteen sub, and it has three 8" units in it. It has very tight deep bass.

IMO the best compromise is two sub boxes driven by a single amplifier, placing
one around a 1/3 along the side wall, the other a 1/3 along the back wall.
YMMV but each sealed sub is probably best built with two drivers on opposite
faces the so called "force cancelling mode". So look at 4 good 12" drivers.
Loads of choices for 12"ers. Ignore the driver power ratings, look at Xmax
and the power needed to reach Xmax, you want around 150W per driver.

Having a given cone area neighboured will give you a better radiation
resistance and - nominally - better efficiency.

In a real room you are - always - better of, when exciting the room
in multiple positions, so you can flatten out the excitation of
room modes. In the end this variant will subjectively sound more
"solid" and balanced.
