Hi,
I'm planning to build a u-frame line array subs consisting of 4x 18 inch woofers per side. I have been looking at BMS's woofers: 18N860: http://bmsspeakers.com/fileadmin/bms...2010-03-18.pdf 18S430v2: http://bmsspeakers.com/fileadmin/bms...0v2_t_data.pdf Woofers are advertised to have a low distortion, and from the pictures their motor seems to be vented properly which could indicate that the motor has a low operation noise. Does anybody have some experience with these woofers? |

Nope, though for dipole use, many favour high Qts drivers (around 1, maybe a little higher).
Perhaps it'd be worth searching for something that fits the bill better.

I intend to use a DCX2496 to equalize the room response (= mainly boost low freqs), high q-value is therefore useless, and it's only an indicator for a sloppy motor system with weak magnet.
I will also continue my project at some point and will monopolize or make a cardioid out of some of those woofers, this kind of planned versatility also calls for "universal woofer". By the way, the frames are ready: ![]() My current apartment does not allow me to move the frames further from the front wall. Therefore I have to set the crossovers low and/or boost the lowest freqs quite a bit. |
