I have been mating my homemade front main speakers with Velodyne ULD-12 powered subs (one for each speaker) and this has worked effectively all these years. I am retired my Velodynes and am thinking about mating them with some Elemental Designs sealed 10" A3S-250 subwoofers as a replacement as my current choice.
Does anyone know if the ULD-12 controller would still work with this new combination. The controller basically splits the high and low frequequencies to the main amp (for the speakers) and the lows to the powered subs. Although the basic controller adjusts volume control to the subs, it is limited to the 85Hz crossover point (worked fine for me) it seemed a good solution for combining the mains and sub. Ideally a Mirage LFX-2 or 3 active crossver would be nice if I could find one but perhaps the controller I have would work just fine. I know that the controller has a lot more going on then just a basic volume control and these velodyne subs need them to work at all. Thanks for any suggestions , alternatives or experiencing with keeping the controller for my new combination. Frank
