relatively low fs and high Q compared to a driver that's normally associated with horn loading. however this is probably for good reason, it'd make sense that they're trying to fit this into the same 'family' as the lab 12.

these specs probably suit certain horn designs for the same reasons as danley chose to match the lab12 to the lab horn. i imagine the specs are well suited to achieving a respectably low cut off without an astronomically large horn - at the expense of some sensitivity.

i haven't had a play though so i may well be wrong!

I wonder why everyone thinks the low fs is a problem. In a front loaded horn, you have a closed volume on one side of the membrane, which increases the resonance frequency. Its basically a lab12 in 15inch size, so you could make a labhorn style enclosure for it and be happy.

Home Theater Maybe?

Hi Y'all,

It might make a nice home theater sub, like a SPUD on steroids. :)

Regards,

LAB15 Bass Reflex

The Lab15 models well in small vented enclosures. I put one in an aprox 2.5 cubic foot box, tuned it to around 35 hz with a large slot port. I think it is quite good! It can play the low pop music notes that other pro sound woofers cannot, especially not in anywhere near this small of a box. I wonder if this is not what it is designed for? Eminence has the plans for bass reflex on their site.
I am quite impressed. I think it would make a great "overkill" home theater sub. I know it makes a really good portable DJ sub.

Haven’t we seen a similar idea from Monacor, small cab low sound with PA intention, 13 years earlier?
