I've been building/designing subs/tops for church's who just can't afford the latest/greatest.

I know this is the sub forum, where I've typically talked about the 55-2421... however it's partner in crime is no more....

ideas? help!! I need a good top driver to go with my bass sticks, etc...

I want to stay away from the pyle/goldwood stuff... but that leaves me at the $40-$80 per driver range, with fane, peavey, selenium, eminence, etc...

I feel like I've lost a friend... goodbye 55-1740.

The good Dr. has run out on occasion in the past, and I've had to wait.

I'm hopeful that is just a temporary thing... right?

When I first started to experiment with line arrays we bought two cases of the WH10s. Needed something very cheap/disposable. I think we paid around $10 each for them. They're not bad for a cheap driver.

Cheap enough to try a couple.

I've noticed the Tapped Horn Mini works with nearly anything you put in it... My theory is that the woofer is so far out of the horn, the sound of the enclosure is dominated by the "first wave" of the woofer. (IE, the woofer is practically on the outside of the enclosure.)

My measurements indicate it performs a lot different "in the real world" than the sims would indicate.

JBell is/was using this 55-1740 driver in a mid box, 100-2Khz.

Interesting about the TH mini though... thanks.
