Hey!
So, I just finished the Steve Bench phono pre with Salas' shunt regulator for the power supply and it's time to talk subwoofers. My current system includes some 300b monoblocks into either a pair of Fostex 206e backhorns (in the 208E-Sigma enclosure) or a set of Supravox 215 signature bicones run on open baffle, which is what we're here to discuss. I'm thinking I would run some Eminences (Alpha?) with the open baffle Supravoxes, but any guidance on this would help. They're in a pretty big room and I need a good degree of bass help to round out the sound. Any advice would be appreciated. Kofi |

Do they have to be OB or are "box" sub designs OK?

Chambered downfiring woofers ,high sensibility ones ,which may be difficult to find , so SS amp with average 88 SPL woofers.
My question is if R U going to cross and amp them 'ctive ? |

I am open to all ideas. I have seen a pair of Alphas per channel and one Supravox on one OB before and I thought that had potential, but I am willing to consider anything.

A pair of Alpha 15s are common here, but only on OB - you couldn't make a boxed sub with them.

As far as active crossover goes I've got a reckhorn f-1. ~$50 from CSS. It's much nicer than what was in my plate amp. I like it a bunch.
Creative Sound - Product Details Emminence or big cheap Goldwoods in an H-frame is what I see mentioned for open subs, not that I've experimented with that setup... |
