My drafting teacher has a RL-P 12" that was damaged during shipping when he ordered it. Long story short he got a replacement and ended up with broken one just sitting on a shelf.
I've mentioned it to him a couple times. I'm going to see if he would let me either have it if I could get it repaired or just buy it from him. The damage is strictly to the frame/basket itself. About 1/3 of the mounting circle and a good amount of a support/rib is gone, it's almost as if something just took a bite out of it. I'll see if I can get some pictures out it later on today so the damage can be described clearly. I have contacted SoundSplinter today to see if they could either supply me a replacement basket or repair it as long as the price isn't to ludicrous. Meanwhile, I was curious if anyone here either knows someone who could help me out as far as parts/repair or has had some experience in completely re building the entire sub woofer assembly. I've though about getting some raw materials and shaping and welding them to the original frame versus an entire breakdown but I'm not entirely sure how'd that work out. Any help/advice is appreciated. |

the driver will need to be re-coned as part of replacing the basket. You could inquire about upgrading the driver to a 15" if the motor has the same width magnetic gap.
