Hi All,

I am reading good things about horns.. Has anyone come across a build with the tang bands (6.5 or 8's) that is able to be wall mounted (supported with legs) behind a 50" plasma?

The mouth would have to open into the room

I yearn for mid 20's.. I live in the uk and drivers are really hard to come by..

I can get drivers from either
http://www.lautsprechershop.de/english/index_hifi.htm or
http://www.europe-audio.com/intro.asp

thanks guys/gals.

Wont that eventually F! up your TV?

I suggest the SPUD clone also.
You get major feel effect plus your TV's life span will probably increase dramatically.

I plan on the mouth being below the plasma and firing out from under it..
The spud clone is too large
I have seen the volvo site.. very nice but only down to 30hz..
I will have a look for the JLH design.. **edit** found jlh's dual driver version.. it's huge.. to big for me.

thanks guys.

Here's a single driver version of the dual driver TH I did back when folks started talking up this driver.

I find it easier than WinISD.
Specially cause WinISD always F!s me with not allowing the info I put in for a driver. Hate that.

HR is pretty darn easy.
Like with any other application you have 3 choices as a starting point. So decide if you either
A.) Want to use a specific driver
B.) A specific size requirement you must restrain to.
C.) Specific output.

The hardest to start with is C.
This leads to BIG to huge enclosures. B is the second hardest as HR is limited in the # of folds it can work with. So I suggest starting with A.

So you input the speakers praramters into
the bottom section. IF you do not know all the #s let HR auto calculate by inputting what you do know.

Input 2 Pi
Always use this as a standard starting point. Though in reality it will be quarter space (1 Pi). Eg (volts) = Use 1 watt per given OHM value of the speaker. 2.83 =8ohm, 2=4.
After that input some erroneous info just to get started.
Like
S1=100 S2=200 Con1=50
Click on the L input to change horn type. (Exp/Con)
In the bottom section under Re click box to change box type to TH.
Now under Tools select Tapped Horn Wizard (CNTRL+H =shortcut) and play around with everything in here.
If I recall correctly the TH wizard
will not put in an S5 segment. You CAN and then it will use the info. - In case you want another fold.

Post up some requirements
like MAX dimensions and Frequency range you would like ti to do. I am sure some people with be happy to play around.

thanks for the reply.. I have had a play around and I still would prefer a little help if you can spare the time?

Max dimensions.. well it is going to be against the wall behind my 50" plasma so it can be largish... but double folded would fit best I guess. Max I owuld say is maybe 80cm wide X 60 cm high X slimest possible with driver...

Frequency range, well down to mid 20's ideally. The lower the better... up to 80hz as it is for HT use only.

I already have a 200w (into 4ohm) plate amp coming but it has a boost at 25hz of 4db - I have the schematic and can disable it if required, it also has a highpass at 15hz.

Driver - well as per OP I am limited in my choices being in the UK.. I can get the 6.5 tang band that Erik has in his double folded but think it is going to pass excursion below 30hz.. but could be wrong.
I can source the w8-740, the w69-1042
any dirver form here http://www.lautsprechershop.de/english/index_hifi.htm
or here

8" http://www.europe-audio.com/Producten_c.asp?Productgroep_B_ID=665&Productgroep_a_ID=75

there are so many to choose from it's like a needle in a haystack!

Budget for driver say 80 euro...

Well hope that's enough and if anyone can spare the time I would most definately appreciate it.

Hi All,

Hi, I wouldn't design a TH with FR BW reaching below 30 Hz as the signal delay(group delay) would be huge and quite noticeable at the XO frequency.

IMO,the necessary front speaker signal delay for GM:s suggestion is at least about 10 mS too high.

At a gross delay about 20 mS as GM:s would also consume most of the built in signal delay capability of simpler HT receiver amps leaving very little delay(often 30 mS at max.) for the surround channels to use.

This problem is minimized if a T-TQWT is designed.See the submitted picture.
