This is it. The SPL numbers are modeled for being in a corner. I know you should run it at .5 Pi. But the truth is you get pretty much what I posted. In a car you get .5 Pi SPL levels. This little sub is good for a car or for a small home system. That's the actual reason for the redesign for a small home system.

OK So I'm waiting for the request to post the plans????
I will post the plans in a couple of days. I'm doing a bit of a refold of the design for UNHORN 1 and when it is behaving correctly I'll post the pics as soon as I can. A bit of sharing killed no one. Except if your drink is poisoned... Mark

sound's good, i look forward to your folding scheme.
I am modifying for a 35-40hz low cut-off for use along side a line array PA system i'm designing, i ended up with a 29ltr box. the next best i have been able to sim is 2 TB w8's in a 40ltr box at ~122db with a smaller bandwidth. |

The new redo is for a dual 6 1/2" design. It uses the Anarchy 6 1/2" woofer as a replacement for the very good but not to cheap SDX7.
The dual TRIO8 design will be available from the manufacturer Creative Sound Solutions. So how large a venue do you plan on filling with this box? It is not designed for PA! It's designed for home and or car. PA will need a great deal more air movement. Possibly a dual front loaded horn like you can find on this subwoofer forum. I modeled one of JLH's dual MCM horns with TRIO8's and it really performed. Mark

i'm not looking for huge venues for this, that is what my ev sx500 and dayton DVC FLH's (redesign of JLH's dual MCM) are for, but that stuff is huge and heavy! I use this stuff for dj'ing, the biggest venue i accept is basketball courts, and very few small outdoor things.
i am wanting a second system for smaller bar/diner venues that the ev's are just way to big and that don't need a hole lot of bass. i modeled 120 db out of a dual anarchy box, which should be plenty for my desires, especially for the overall size and cost of the drivers. i kinda just want to emulate a different popular line array/small box sub that i don't have the $2k per side to buy (nor would i, no highs no lows.......) |

120 is really optomiistic for one cabinet. In the venue size you are specifying the TRIIO8 would be better.. The smaller Unhorn will just get up to those levels in a car, or conctete basement corner. But in a larger venue you would want to model with 2 Pi acoustical loading. You might get close to 108 with a steep highpass.

i'm looking at the triio8, which i can get ~117db with a single, so overall cost is lower per box and at 8 ohms, it would be easy to parallel connect two for ~122.
I tend to keep all my sims in 1 pi since i am usually against a wall and corner load if i can. i know that building the box i can expect ~3db loss. I have to high pass any design i have came up with so far, but the triio looks interesting with the xmech of 19.... The important design trade for my use is size, so anything that is 1-2cuft, works fine. Also, many of the patrons listening to this future system don't like huge amounts of bass, so ~110 db is probably enough for them. the baseline room size for my LA/small sub is 25x45 with 11ft ceilings (and i am against the back wall) |

Well your using the right box.
We got peaks of 124 in a corner in a small room. A larger venue with a couple stacked to couple the mouths you will get what your looking for. Use the multiple horn tool and you can see what you will get for a stack of two or four. If you are loading a room a bass stack will all the boxes in one good corner will usually get more clean SPL. ![]() OK you guys pick the design you want posted. Keep this in mind there is no particular magic going on here. Basically a bit better response than a standard vented box but with out the box sound. So horn like is the best description. The difference? One does 40hz or there about the other does 30hz or there about. The lower one is a bit larger. So you guys pick and I'll post the plans. Mark
