Default 32 sub array questions

considering building a 32 12"sub array using these http://www.parts-express.com/pe/show...number=292-322

using this series parallel configuration and a behringer ep2500 for the amp, probly 2 4sub towers in each corner to even out room response.
was thinking of 1.25 cu. feet sealed per driver, any changes/recommendations?

All I can say is, Why? There are better solutions that won't require such a huge installation. What are your specific design goals?

A quick calculation confirms the theory that they will be boomy as crap with a one note bass at around 80Hz. (if I entered everything correct that is).
Qes is uncomfortably high (makes my skin crawl) and Qms follows due.
They won't even work in an OB without some aperiodic (acoustical resistor) or similar. (IMHO).

So they are very expensive as they offer little to no use for the money (IMHO of course).

I personally would go for two or four good PA drives. 12" or 15" seems to offer the best value.
Although it depends on what you can find and at what price.

*edit* 32 wrongs don't make one right.

In my rather small world of experience a lot of 'cheap' does not make up for quality. To bad it took some time to learn

Not to say that you can't make good stuff with cheap. It just takes lots of selection and skill.

design goals are to get loud, evenly distributed bass in a basement workshop 16'w x 17'L 7'h, the 1.25cf sealed was just a suggestion. as far as the multiple drivers, I would want at least 1 15 per corner.

Those woofers you suggest will probably be pretty much out of control even at very little exursion

At the present I believe theres no doubt that the best and cheapest way to high SPL subs is tapped-horns

In a workshop, you should ALWAYS be wearing hearing protection...
In a basement, with 7' ceilings -- sound will suck...

Do yourself a favor, spend you money on a great pair of sennheiser closed headphones... -3db@ 12hz on some models, with 112db@1v from your iPod.

Yea, no way would I recommend that sort of array, especially not with those woofers. When you say "loud" what do you mean? A couple of good 15's should hit 120dbSPL in the correct enclosure.

You'd do better to spend the same money on 2 or 4 much better woofers...

Default Why ask why?

This type of entry makes me wonder why we even bother to answer "ideas" like that. Why not have 2 forums..one for serious inquiries, and one for the rest?

32 woofers in a workshop...give us all a break.

I like the headphone idea!

Those Senns 595 are open air...
I've had many Sennheiser's - got 580's that I have been using for close to 10 years.
What's Sennheiser's best sounding closed design?

I share the opinion: 32 cheap 12's in a basement/workshop is NG and waste of time and money.
