Has anyone used these?
Tang Band W5-1138SM 5-1/4" Neodymium Subwoofer Saw the excursion on these things and it blew me away for such a small driver. I'm building a small multimedia system so i was looking for a small subwoofer (I know there is no replacement for size when it comes to low freq, but in a small multimedia system, there has to be compromise somewhere). This seemed to fit the bill. Wondering if anyone has used them and if so, what do you think of them? A lot of good reviews from the parts express, but I thought I'd come on DIY to ask some REAL enthusiasts for some REAL insight. Thanks guys. |

I've not used the W5 driver you referenced, but have experience with the slightly larger W6-1139SI.
In the right enclosure, the W6-1139 drivers are very impressive. These drivers are difficult to front-mount, the frame design is much better suited for back-mounting. |

I have 4 of the W6-1139SI drivers I'm experimenting with, there is alot more info here on these than the W5's. Is 6" too big for your plans?

I can also give a thumbs up to the 1139. Sounds bigger than 6.5"

thanks for the input. I'm trying to keep the system as small as I can. I don't want it to take up too much room. So I was looking more heavily toward the 5.25".
It seems everyone is fairly impressed with this series of drivers. Given the right enclosure I imagine these little ones will not disappoint. |

I have a crudely built 25liter sealed plywood box with two of the 1139's in a push-push configuration. The 5.25" would surely need less sealed, how much room do you have to work with?
