Thanks Dennis, Just trying to figure out why and how infinia came up with the 30 watts for nominal power, when the manufacturer's specs say 80 watts?

Emile,

I am sure he chose a power level that gave a reasonable level of low end extension and output without exceeding excursion.

Again, the power level is completely up to you as the thermal limits(power rating) have nothing at all to do with the sub's mechanical limits in a given enclosure at a given frequency.

You could run 80 watts all day long at 100 Hz through that driver and never hurt it. Try to push 80 watts through at 25 Hz and it would certainly sound bad and probably damage the woofer and or pr.

So in other words I would have to play around with the wattage for a specific woofer to see what the maximum power would be before the woofer would get damaged? As in excessive excursion for lower frequencies?

Hi Emile
How is Unibox working for you now? Can you repeat what I did above? Post your result (charts) and I'll even help you if you need it.

PS There are some plate amps in the Market Place Forum you might look at for your subs. From one of the speaker designers at NHT named J. Hindley.

Hi Infinia, Still tinkering with it a little. I have been a little busy with other things at the moment, but I will post something if I need some more help. Once again, Thanks to all for the additional help!
