I got the Samsung HT-X810 home theater system that comes with a 5.8ghz wireless subwoofer. The sub is too loud at the lowest volume setting and boomy. The sub has no inputs, just power cable and connect button and volume is adjusted through the receiver. What can I do or change if I take the sub apart.

I associate reports of 'Boomy' with two things
a) poor room placement (although I'm not talking from personal experience) - try moving it around, especially keep it out of the corner b) base reflex box design - designed to produce good base through 'tuning' the behaviour of the box to get resonance in the port. You can damp it by shoving a sock into the port. That's a lot easier than opening the box. Your receiver should allow you to set a volume level / gain for the sub.
