Currently building a single full range driver using the Jordan JX92 (and possibly a Alpair 10) and was wanting to augment the low end with a decent subwoofer. My current thinking was a smallish sealed enclosure using a Scan Speak 18W/8535 Carbon Fiber drive. With some preliminary modelling, it appears that in a 26 l enclosure, the f-3dB would be 48 Hz, which is not bad, and if I were to use a ported, it can 31 Hz in a 46 l enclosure. The other option is the 8565, which can go lower at 39 Hz in sealed and 27 Hz in ported.
Now I am not 100% sure my cals are correct, but they do appear to be consistent. My cross over will be an active 3rd order at around 100 Hz, maybe up to 200 Hz. Does anyone have experience with this, or a similar setup, and can provide shed some light? |
