Logitech Z-5300 without remote controller

**bump***

Just keeping this thread alive. I just bought the base box for this system at Goodwill -- great price, $7. It's worth messing with to get it working. Massive heat sink tells me that it has some real power transistors inside.

Alas, I discovered that it will not work without that remote control unit, which strikes me as some notoriously bad engineering. What were they thinking? Since when do amps and speakers need remote controllers to work? Of course such peripheral things will get lost or broken over the years. That's either non-forward-thinking engineering, or planned obsolescence, both of which are technological obscenities.

Anyway, I shall also be fighting this good fight to get the thing working. I'll keep you posted.
