Indeed they do not produce wattage but the first reply was of no use to anyone...

The speakers have a power handling which is measured in watts, the actual loudness will depend on the sensitivty of the box/speaker combination and that will depend on budget, space and frequency requirements.

There are many good PA woofers that are very sensitive and have excellent long term power handling but do not produce the lower octaves very well. Low bass in a small box means a heavy cone and in turn more power input. A speaker that is 3db more sensitive will need half as much power to produce the same levels.

A good compromise would be to use two 12, 15 or 18 inch PA/bass guitar (35-25Hz Fs)woofers in isobaric alignment and reflex or bandpass box, this would give a compact cabinet with potentially no exposed parts, simple construction, low cost, massive output and tight fast sound.

Once you have a heavy cone woofer, you are stuck with it, it will not get any louder or faster or produce any better kick, a PA driver can always be EQ'd down (box permitting)and/or treated to lower its fundamental resonance.

The question is....can you really justify putting hundreds of watts into a speaker only to produce a subsonic rattling of your vehicle or do you want real high level accurate bass and long term reliability?

Good luck!!!
