Default Inductor coil inside Danley tapped horn

Apologies that this isn't a DIY speaker per se, but just want to ask that there is this huge 14-ga iron core inductor that's the size of my hand that's in series to the driver.

The driver is prob a LAB12 (seems slightly modded though), pretty cool and low Le. But I suppose this iron core inductor is at least 5mH. I have a TH-112.

I know there is talk that driver inductance affects SQ of drivers, does this coil add on to it? Anyway can I bypass the coil, since I do not see any benefit to it (why would the TH need to have a 1st order LP filter at say 200Hz). Or am I missing anything?

Thanks.

PS. The polyurea coating is really cool. You can throw a small rock at it and not chip anything.

Dont bypass it. It is essential to the design. It modifies the frequency response. This was discussed in the tapped horn thread.

G'day 2100

Any photos of your little sub you'd like to share? It's always fascinating checking out a masters work.

Cheers
