Default Will this car sub be any good for HT?

Hello, New boy coming through..
I have been reading for some time with much interest, some very knowledgeable people here.

I was wondering if anyone has any experience with car subs used for HT.
I have a Fusion FPW-1200 12 inch and seams like a very well built unit.

I was thinking of putting the unit in a custom 70L ported box, is there any good free calculators that might help me design an enclosure?

Thanks in advance.

Fs is a bit high but it depends on how deep and loud you really want to go. You could give it a try as you already have it, so at worst you waste some time and a few pacific pesos on mdf but gain the experience. As it's a 12" the enclosure could probably be adapted easily to a Peerless XLS12 wich are about $A300 and highly regarded.

You nee Excel for this one, and lots of the speaker models are wrong in the database, so always check against the manufacturers datasheet.

I play around with winisd normally

I think 70L will be far too big for that sub. It seems to model alright at a 40L box tuned to around 30hz IMO, but it'll depend on the room etc.

I get the feeling it would be very handy for where a small box is required.

Thanks guys,

What Hz should I be aiming for?
Is a ported design better for general HT?

The room is approx 10x8m.
