Default subwoofers dont *boom* at the same time

I have two subs in one box that do not bump at the same time.. i hooked them up separately and one sounds just a little big louder than the other.. any ideas?

Your question is like saying " I put a turbo on my truck but it drives funny, why?"

Is it any old speakers in any old box or was it properly designed?

If the former then the news is bad: you need to take it apart, learn about it, think about it and start again before you break something. No-one can help you if it's just random junk thrown together. Have a look at the Wiki section of this site to learn some of the basics, If you do some of your own legwork people will be very happy to help you learn. You might have some really good junk that just needs the right cabinet or you might be better off using the drivers to stick the shopping list to your refrigerator.

If the latter you need to provide a lot more information. Internal dimensions of the cabinet, port dimensions, Driver T/S specs, what filtering you are using to drive them, where in the room it is, how big is the room?

Hi xJ2daO2daNx,

Have you checked woofer voice coils with an Ohm meter.
Maybe one woofer VC is open and that woofer now acting as a passive radiator.

The only way to fix it is to recone the driver. Unless it is a high end driver it probably wouldn't be worth it.

If one of the coils is blown, then the only thing you can really do besides getting a new driver is to disconnect one of the coils on the good driver so they play evenly.

Oops, I did obviously not read your first post carefully enough. My assumption was that you had not tested woofers separately, sorry for any confusion.

But if you have dual VC woofers you could have one of the VC's open as suggested by theAnonymous1.

Do you have dual VC woofers?
What kind of woofers do you have?

You could also have some shorted turns in the voice coil of the woofer that has the lowest output. (This applies whenever you have dual or single VC woofers.)
Check Re of every coil with a DVM and confirm that the values are fairly close and that no VC is open circuit.
