Correct. I intend to use it for both HT and music.
My room is about 20' x 17' with 9' ceinglings so it's not small. Given my room size two of these would probably be more suitable or one 15" but it suited me to get the one at this stage. I'm having some troubles with standing waves at the moment so looking for the best location for my sub. Unfortunately the GLW is a bit restrictive with placement so I might just have to make to with the current arrangement.
If you still want to go the Peerless I'd still recommend it but I can now say that the Rythmik IS better. The exchange rate at the moment is really good so as for value for money there's no price advantage buying locally. I think the Peerless would be at least $250 and a decent amp around $350 minumim so for an extra $150 including air freight I was happy to go the Rythmik.
I have had a variety of subs over the years including a Shiva based vented sub run by the Redgum. As for output this was terrific but a bit one noted. The Shiva really needs a big box. I then had a 10" MJ Acoustics from the UK which was good with music but no good with HT. Next was a Velodyne SPL1200 which for a small sub had heaps of output and went pretty low. It was unbreakable but I think had pretty good limiting to avoid the driver over extending. Next was the Peerless with a cheaper amp with a 17hz high pass filter which was okay but when I replaced the amp with the Redgum it improved substantially but no high pass filter meant the sub bottomed out all too often. Out of frustration of mucking around with different port sizes I took a plunge on the Rythmik. I have to muck around with the dampening material but so far so good. It took 10 days for the sub and amp to arrive from the states and was well packed.
If you want volume I'd agree with Paul Spencer and go a couple of Peerless drivers or even the Adire Audio Shiva with some power behind them. If you want the best sound quality you can get for the money go the Rythmik. If you want something better get the Rythmik with a Velodyne SMS1 to equalise it or an Ultacurve. If you want better again put your hands deep into your pockets and buy a Velodyne DD series.

I sent you a PM on the XLS and redgum.

Would you have chosen something different if it was 100% HT?

I'm at work at the moment and can't seem to pick up my PM's. I'll reply tonight when I get home.
As for the Jaycar amp there's lots of information about these amps and I think various vendors sell them with their own branding. I think they are pretty good but have built in equalisation at 35hz which has caused various problems.

So it comes down to:

1. 830845 in sealed box
2. 830500 with PR
3. 830847 with PR

http://www.solen.ca/sxxls.htm the last two designs are interesting.

Which would be the best for HT? I've tried to use WinISD, but not sure what I am looking for.
