Unplug the unit from the mains power source.Remove the cover . Look for 2 0r 4 large plastic coated aluminum cans,these would be the main power supply filter capacitors!Look them over real good usually when these go south they get hot and swell up or bulge out and start to leak a oily (electrolyte) substance.
Beware those same capacitors may still have a healthy charge on them..If you touch the terminals and chassis ground you may get a education!
