How is John Linsley Hood RIAA Preamp compared to others RIAA-preamp? Is this worth a try? Any who have some experience with this Preamp?

Hi,
the circuit in the article is not the circuit shown on the page (the one you show in the 2nd post). the one in the article is for directly drivng heaphones and is as such not ideal. The 2nd appears to be a gain buffer, not an RIAA amplifier, see : http://sound.westhost.com/project25.htm |

Ok. I see.
Is there any who have some experience with the "MC Preamp #2" on the ESP-page?

The circuit in your first post looks like the JLH Moving Coil preamp, which sits in front of the RIAA equalization section.
For this purpose the input transistors are small power devices, to provide very low input impedance. JHL also used the same circuit to drive headphones, but in this version normal small signal devices were used fro the input and the power devices located at the output. |
