I have a Sony V333ES receiver that uses 10 Sanken SAP15 darlingtons as the final output stage (5 PNP/NPN pairs for 5 channels). 1 pair of these have blown so I'm faced with replacing the pair. I then thought about just replacing all of them and I was wondering if anyone knew if there was a better one i could use to improve the sound even if it means a loss of power (it's 125w/ch so it wouldn't matter much). Also the caps in the power supply are 63V 18,000 uf, would upgrading these be worth anything? Also is there any other mods for this amp to get better sound out of it? It's a decent sounding amp but i'm a perfectionist when it comes to my sound. Any help is appreciated.

The Sanken devices are amongst the best, I would replace with the same.

Oh, one other thing. Are the SAP15's interchangable with the SAP16's? Would it be an improvement or are they even compatible at all? Just a thought....

They should be fine. The SAP16 devices simply have a higher power handling.
