I hate automotive sound culture... BASS BASS BASS BASS

Sometimes you can see a car that it's value is a half of the sound system...

Hi nando,

Some young bucks go for SPL others fo SQ, and many of them spend thousands on their audio to attain very high quality.

Boom-boom can be heard from many home stereo systems if theses are played loud as well, its all down to the car/room becoming a re-radiating pressure chamber.

Sounds like in Brazil the car owners get away with showing off, whereas here the driver would be prosecuted for nuisance.

Ever heard a convoy of ICE enthusiasts driving past - all maxed out to the same FM pop music station !

Cheers ......... Graham.

Default Yes Graham....and hello Nando!.... we are needing here some laws and education

Yesterday was a hell in earth here...another noisy guy parked his car down my building and had opened the rear.

Down the text you will have comments about the DX amplifier..now some comments...some social relations as we are humans.

The most awfull music was playing there....the one was invited by someone of my building...and before 22:00 hours no one can complain.... all the afternoon he was playing loud music, and screaming to be heard talking with the invitation family that received him.... i was happy when darkness came....so...the one that wanted to be seen, to be watched, to be important (ridiculous guy) was covered by the darkness...having not more chance to be "important" (annoying in my point of view), as darkness could not enligth that "enourmous microscopic figure" then....he gone.

People here, not my own people related culture Graham, i came from French town, Rio de Janeiro (thousand miles at south direction) was "civilized", or "dominated" by a french invasion, and the culture there is a little bit more "responsive" related the unlimited freedom we have in Northeast...people here dance in place of complain....they contribute to the mess and say about themselves that they are extremelly happy (hummm..i do not agreed...alcohol is there all time long..fake happyness.moved by alcohol in high levels in the blood)...if in another place in this country...more into south direction...for sure, a lot of people will go down to ask him to reduce the volume.

Here, if you do that, people will watch you alike an extra terrestrian...and you have the risk not to succeed...if you call police they will say that now law was broken...and you will be in hard problems to make the one reduce the loud sound... they will feel even more happy with the informs they are reaching distant places with good sonic pressure....grumpf!

Also Public adress are disturbing too much my place., audio adventising run hard during weekends... in monthes i will move from my rich place to another inland building.... a less rich place will have less bother guys as they love to stay drunk in front of the beach doing foolishes.

Even inside home, glasses shutted, curtains closed, those sounds compete with your television and normal conversations...and those guys normally thinks that they are giving us a "gift" producing that mess....they had no conscience how annoying they are advancing the volume so further.

Life is beautifull here, despite of those guys....needing laws that for sure will come, as this is turning very common around this country...and this is a small problem..... we have others that are bigger than that...reason why, law makers response are slow in speed.

DX AMP is a very kind amplifier that can work even with junk parts...you will need to respect only the voltage limits, current limits, some small gain may be needed..hummm, more than 50 will work fine.... the speed is not "that" problem, as Dx amplifier, a very kind amplifier, will reproduce music inside the audible range, not producing harmonics to disturb your cats , or to confuse Bats flying around.

Using 35 volts, almost all audio transistors will fit...some current will be needed at the output.... 5 amps transistors will work fine...under 8 ohms, even 2N3055 and 2N2955 will work there...also TIP3055 and TIP2955 and other Tips transistors too.

Dx amplifier can work with 2N transistors, 2SC transistors and 2SB transistors.

Also it has suggested transistors, beeing the more adequated ones those ones you have in your junk box...a very flexible design that do not need you to follow instructions in details.

Also, can reproduce good audio without Platine silvered Brica, tube tuned low loss high stable precision golden stripped capacitors.

For your board, golden plated lines will not be needed and it is the only one that can work without holes to screws in its board...it sound good, even not beeing pretty and expensive.

Sorry folks, today i am beeing a little big sarcastic, or maybe a little bit cinic ....i had not a good nigth....very nervous because that powerholic down there.

regards,

Carlos

Hi Carlos,

Thoughts like a 'bucket of water' come to mind.
Where did that come from ?

There would not be any open cars here at the moment - its snowing again !

Carlos, I think that your amp circuit is useful because anyone around the world could try building it with whatever is to hand, including nails into a piece of wood as with the old tube 'breadboard' construction.
You could have choice of melamime, veneer, mahogany etc !
Even make as a wall mount picture panel !

Cheers ......... Graham.

Default Yes Graham.... will sound good if the base used to construction was made

using wood, card paper, MDF, plywood....painted, or with varnish.

The amplifier will sound excelent using copper nails..also will sound especial with the iron nails...using boards, point to point aerial construction...bus bars constructions...terminal bridges...using screws or even wire twisted around posts.

I can guaranteed that will sound good, despite the base you decide to use.

Also will sound nice in wall....inside some sound instrument..inside furnitures..everywere...hehe.

All rigth folks....not kidding anymore....observe the sketch my daughter made...with me as a help for her (10 years old).

The yesterday noisy guy...painted orange or yellow because "yelow guys" means "stupid or ridiculous guys" here.

regards,

Carlos

Default Great Klaas...many thanks by your attention and kindness to produce a better picture

for my historical purposes....hehe....not so real purposes...i use to be kidding, this way life goes better with good mood.

Dear Klaas and other nice folks, in special the message is beeing sent to respectable Graham...old and experient guy, that may know human behavior better than i can.

Klass made his amplifier....Dx amplifier now has double guaranteed...Dx and Klaas is telling it sounds.

The next guy will say:
- "It sounds good"

The second;
- "It sounds very good"

The third:
- "It sounded spectacular"

The fourth:
-"Sounds incredible"

And so on...if the thread was keept alive for some monthes, i will ensure you this will happens.

Why?...because people do not wants to take risks...amplifier not famous..beeing pioneers, people do not want to talk too much not to burn their words into flames..

But as the group will increase.... responsabilities will be divided between them and courage will be multiplied by the number of constructive folks...you will see this happens.

There's always a chance of a bad mood one enter to disturb and tell some lyes...saying not good...sounding not nice...but people doing it...this chance will be reduced.

Belief, trust, and sells or god or some idea beeing passed as message depends of how many folks sign under...how many folks have constructed...and the propaganda made (beeing true or fake)

I remember someone that had the belief that heavy supplies produced enormous power (yeah..this can be true..almost all the time it is..but with some exceptions)....and the guy never had belief in his own supply.... that one powered a 16 amps drain, 13.8 Ham transceiver...and he told that voltage gone down...sligth losses of 5 percent (excelent supply).

We decide to make a joke with him...we have installed a stone inside....and we told this one is really good....HEAVY!...well...he runned to buy.... 5 times the price...we keep the money with us...a fake negotiation that had dead line time to finish....

He gone, with the heavy supply...ahahaha..sweating a lot...not one wanted to help him with the fear to start to laugh....and he used very happy, the same supply he always had...the same 5 percent losses...but HEAVY!....he told us that transmitter was better, that the painel lamp was not flicking...much stable...better audio reproduction..and that even his standi9ng wave ratio was
reduced because the supplies excelence.

Observe propaganda fellows...the way it works.

We return the money and we explain him what happened.... he insisted that the heavy stone supply was really better (pride...self defense mechanism that foll us)...we made testing...using loads...the same result.

He continue to say that the stone heavy supply was better..that he do not know why..but was better.

This is life folks...and Marketing too.

Dx not famous...DX amplifier not famous....if Dx turn famous, amplifier will turn heavy and excelent...ahahahahhaa.

Our propaganda do not works fine when we do it by ourselves...but if some "God"..alike Doctor Nelson Pass, because a little disturbed with some wiskie, and decided to construct Dx amplifier.... much more people will construct Dx amplifier...more than the folks have constructed Pass amplifiers...because everybody will have much confidence when he is talking about an other amplifier...not protecting his own products.

People is too much clever...and at same time...not clever enougth...i am included inside this group...i am human.... a "people"

regards,

Carlos

.................................................. .................................................. .

Many thanks by the very good picture you have made Klaas.

Now you have respected the excelence of Panasonic Lumix products.

regards,

Carlos

Hi Carlos.

Very nice amp, simple and cute ... but you have a big problem in PCB layout.
It is not permitted to share ground between decoupling rail caps and input stage. Half waves rectified currents will flow in LTP
Please see attached picture.
