That Neumann FET circuit is interesting to see. It's obvious with hindsight, but another advantage of capacitive feedback is that the -10dB switch improves the linearity of the capsule amplifier as well as avoiding overloading the front end of the desk.

I suspect that the reason for avoiding phantom power is that 48V from a 3k4 source impedance doesn't really allow for the best analogue electronics.

Several vendors have these FETs. They try to target a max Idss that fits the application ie. the mike has a max 1mA or whatever current draw (very important for cell phones). Some vendors include the diodes for bias which you would not have in a general purpose FET.
