Hi,
Sorry if this is the incorrect forum, but I've searched the net for a mention of the Rotel-500 and this is the only place where I could find it mentioned! Anyway, I've got a 20+ year old Rotel RA-500 amp which I'd inherited, and was working fine until I tried to connect and iPod though headphone socket->phono. and and managed to do something to make the right channel sound really distorted. I wouldn't have a clue where to start in repairing it myself, so and the local electronic shop said £20 for evaluation, and then who knows for the repair itself. So I've two questions.... 1) Anyone any ideas what could have went wrong with it and a rough estimate of what it *should* cost to repair? 2) Is it worth repairing or should I fork out £100 for the CA Azur 540A or £150 for the CA Azur 640A? I've no idea how good this amp is except that it sounds a hell of a lot better than a crappy cheapie one I had before, even through my £100 speakers and I can't find any reviews or comparisons of it online to help me decide whether to keep it. Cheers, Glenn |
