Default Tube Sound from Solid State

Patent #4987381

Using mosfet, front end has about +/-20V rail higher than the output stage rails, feedback is taken before the output stage.
The intention is to make the mosfet output stage clipping (due to higher front end voltages), and we get tube sound

I don't thing it is the good way to do it.
First you won't correct crossover distortion, secondly the clipping will cause deep saturation and probably risk of cross-conduction big.
Still it is not hard to build a small-signal distortive class A stage before an amp and add some resistance to amp's output.

This article about how tubes, mosfets, opamps, bipolars clipping is interesting.

http://milbert.com/articles/TvsT/tstxt.pdf

But I still don't understand why to intentionally make the mosfet (outside feedback loop) clipping?
