Unless the Toroid's Core's are copper, R-Cores will be spikin' too for they use the same wire.

R-cores started out more expensive, so if the price rise due to copper pricing is constant for each transformer type, the ratio of prices to those of toroids will improve. Thus, there will be less of a price premium on the advantages of R-core over toroids.

It's not so much that their prices are going up, but instead the dollar is becoming worthless.
The dollar is worth about 4 cents. (plus tax on the "inflated" prices)
Butter is $4.00 a pound!
Bacon is $4.00 a pound!
Everything is $4.00
Pound per pound, a transformer is probably a good bargain.
Whereas you can only rent butter, bacon, and beer!

I don't like beer. Send me some Delamain or Germain-Robin.

But, it's more than $4.00 per pound.

Everything in the world that uses copper is going up in price. Manufacturers pass it along as they purchase the more expensive comodity. Some have contract pricing, some don't. It should be a clean sweep across the board in no time. Let their 12 month purchase agreements run out and the old prices with it.

Cheers,

Shawn.

Too bad there's no easy way for a consumer to recycle copper. I had a bunch of copper wire, about a pound, I put in the recycling bin along with other scrap metals, and when they picked up the recycling, they took the wire out and left it on the side...
