While browsing Qkits, I found several interesting things. Notably, this amazingly cheap power amp.
It's got discrete components, 100 watts into 4 ohms, and a pricetag I can't help but like. It would seem to be an ideal alternative to a plate amp - add an appropriate active filter, add a spare heatsink and trafo, and presto! - instant subwoofer amplifier. Also, how might this fare for PA use? I know someone who could use an inexpensive PA amplifier. |

Hi Spasticteapot,
I would not count on it for PA use, but for an inexpensive home rig it would work. Don't expect the best sound, but it shouldn't be any worse than most amps out there. -Chris |
