Default Hitachi power MOSFET data book HLN600.

As part of my interest in seeing the "original source code", as it were, of some of the most widely used and discussed amplifier topologys.....can anyone post the above (or just the relavent bits) on DIY audio? or anyone have a link to it?
I am very surprised to find that many of the data books and application notes that are most referred to or quoted from on this and other sites are, in fact, just about unobtainable after all these years.
I thought it would be easy to find on the internet...oh no it isn't
I didn't have much luck with the RCA app notes but at least a certain Mr Pass was able to point me to a similar circuit (thanks Nelson)

Nope
Allready have Bob Cordells article It's referenced at the end of that article and, indeed, that is what Google is finding!
Thanks for your efforts though.
It's the original Hitachi america application notes or data book that had the first practical lateral MOSFET power amp, since copied by one and all....from Maplins to Perreux.

jez:

just curious - have you tried contacting Hitachi or Renasas directly (by phone)?
at any rate, i have this in my databook archive, but it will take me a while to find it.
i think i also have the original article from an IEEE consumer electronics where the mosfets were intruduced, along with that "famous" amplifier circuit from the very late 70s'

stay tuned ...

actually. here at the office, i have one other article that is useful for historical purposes.

in 1980, the august 2 issue of electronic design magazine published 2 articles on audio. i think the front cover billed them as a sort of "mosfet versus bipolar shootout".

one article was written by tom holman (of Apt at that time) on the use of the (then) new mj15022 and mj15023 bipolar power transistors in the Apt 1 power amp.

the other was by jack konrath (of hitachi at that time) on the use of the hitachi lateral mosfets in power amps, using both the hitachi circuit and also in the hafler dh-200 power amp.

let me see what i can do ...

edit:
hmmm, strike 1 - electronic design archives start at 1990; 10 years too late ...

jez,

In my hands is the original HLN600 data book. It shows a 100W schematic with 2 pages of explanation and circuit description, and a table of parameters for devices used. Would this suffice?

My scanner is not very high resolution but I can try. The scans will be too big to post here in the thread so I would need to send them to you as email attachments.

Thanks to all of you for your offers of scans etc
Mlloyd1 has e mailed me with an offer to send some info and Dick West; yes I would appreciate it if you could send what you have

It seems a pity that so much of the work of so many people/companies that brought us to where we are today in audio electronics is not easily available....Maybe it could go in the WIKI?...I feel a new thread could be needed here!
