Hello everybody. I am new to the diyaudio site. I am going to buy two of the aussie amps nx150 Mosfet amp modules to make a stereo power amp. Any tips out there for a first time builder? I plan to use a rack mount chassis to house the completed amplifier. The power transformer will be a 320 VA EI frame transformer as opposed to a toroid. Since I've heard EI's give off more stray magnetism than toroids do, what would be the best way to orient the transformer in the chassis to reduce the potential effects of stray magnetism?

Hi Bama Slamma,
I'd say you should mount your transformer near the front on a sub chassis. Rotate it after you get everything in there for the lowest hum level. A steel panel separating the electronics from your power supply may be a good idea. -Chris |
