One really good vacuum tube voltmeter = US$100.
One really good digital voltmeter = US$30. One OK analog or digital voltmeter = US$10. Modern hand held test bench qaulity voltmeters include resistance measurement, AC and DC volts measurement, diode or transistor continuity measurement .. etc. ... same as the term "multimeter". The costs usually vary with the ranges available, the quality of the probes and additional functions ... Cheap probes & 3 or 4 functions = US$10 to US$20. Decent probes and display and multiple functions = US$25 to US$50 or US$60. High impedence (vacuum tube or digital equivelent), high quality probes, broad range AC, etc. = US$100 used, best quality new US$250 or more.
