What is the difference between 3 series of Audiolab 8000A?

Hello,

I have just bought from my firend a 2nd hand Audiolab 8000A ( the transformer mark 18/90 so I assume it is make in 1990. I know it have Series I, II and III since 1983 to 1997 (before Audiolab takeover by others). What is the outlook and internal difference between the 3 series?

My one is black in front planel and grey on top and arround. Thanks.

the black front is a later model, the grey front came first.

I think they released an all black model.

Look up some previous threads there are many pics showing different versions. The output stage varies. You may be able to tell us other differences once you see the pics.

I am well past the cosmetics and into the driver ciruit repair unfortunately. Things like 330 Ohm resisitor on shematic don't seem to tie with 390 Ohm measured actual albeit "charred"resisitor nor 470 Ohm shown on the pcb screen print for the components location .......also my MPSA42 is explosively burned out which would seem to be the cause of the charred resistors.....15 year old unit so I can't complain but it should be easy to fix once I've sorted out what's what with the schematic to pcb differences. Trawlled this site before writing but couldn't come up with any alternative schematics....am also looking elsewhere and will reply here once (if) found.

I think now that Audiolab are back that they will sell you a service manual and schematic for a small charge.
Their support before TAG took over was exemplary. I hope they have the business sense to revert to that standard.
