I was checking in part out of curiosity, in part in search of a better differential amplifier design, the modified error feedforward with indirect Vbe compensation circuit analyzed by Hawsford in the "Distortion correction circuits for audio amplifiers" paper (J. Audio Eng. Soc., Vol 29 No. 7/8, 1981 July/August pp. 503-510).
This particular topology corresponds to fig. 15 and is repeated below for convenience, with the simple addition of current mirror and current sources. It is attractive and elegant, and Hawksford's analysis proves worthwhile as an error correction one. Surprisingly simulations uncovered what upon second inspection showed as a somewhat obvious liability. What makes me wonder whether someone has worked with this particular topology either in actual hardware or simulations, or whether there are products out there using it. The mentioned liability is an unstable DC condition due to the built in bistable latch. Any comments ? Rodolfo |

I think this scheme is due to Di Caprio (not the actor).

Is there any published experience/comments in this regard by Di Caprio? Rodolfo |
