Probably an easy question for some.

Hello all,

Does anyone know what the most likely cause of my sherwood av amp (Newcastle r-925 RDS) beginning to power up from standby and then immediately going back to standby along with loud clicks.

I am ok with soldering and replacing parts but need some pointers in the right direction.

Hi,

First, this might fit better in the soidstate section.

It sounds like it's going in protect mode. The reason for this is that it is a ofset voltage on the output(Most likely, sometimes it is the protection circuit that is broken, but thats rare.), that might come from blown output transistors or unbalance in the amplifier stage.

Mesure the output transistors.
If some of they are blown, replace the driver transistors also.
Thats what I would have done first, lets take from there shall we?

Best regards,

Magnus
