Hello,
I want to take a stab at building my own kick drum mic using a speaker...any input, ideas or suggestions on how to approach this? I want to make a good one that can handle rock style kicks...inside of the drum and out... Thanks, PR |

Hmmm
Please excuse my tired reply (2:30am) but I've been considering this myself lately. Two off the wall ideas I have come up with are: Directly coupling a driver to the resonant head somehow. ![]() Perhaps a little more sane is the possibilty of taking a small(ish maybe 5") sensitive driver and mounting it in an extendable tube so that you can easily finely tune its resonant frequency. ![]() Right, I can't see anymore so I gotta go to bed!!

I think the tube is a good idea...I was also considering mounting a driver inside a small tom shell or snare shell...the tube sounds more functional as it would fit inside of the air hole...
