I'm in the process of playing with some open baffle speakers. I am using a pair of JBL component speakers and the T-amp I have just doesn't have enough juice.
The only other option I have is a Marantz SR4400 receiver that's only rated to 6 ohms. As long as I don't crank it up (I'm in an old apartment), will using the Marantz put out any sound? Is there protection built in? Will I fry the receiver if I connect it at all? Please help. I have searched through the forums and this was the closest thread I could find. 4 Ohm woofer 8 Ohm tweeter |

Well,if you are not pushing things too hard, the SR4400 should be OK.

Thanks for the replies!
The receiver didn't like it. The sound was warbly (?). That's the only way I can describe it. I shut if off after a few seconds. Oh, well. Just FYI. |
