Hi
I've noticed recently my ancient Kenwood C1 Basic Stereo Control pre-amp has developed a hiss on one channel on analogue replay. I use my recently refurbished Quad 405, together with either a step-up transformer or a dc powered phono pre-pre. I've tried both step-up devices as well as the Quad elsewhere in my setups and these are dead-quiet - even at high volumes. I therefore suspect the Kenwood pre causing the hiss. This pre-amp has both mm and mc inputs and when in use, I use the mm input plus the step-up device for mc cartridges.
Does anyone perhaps know where to start looking inside the Kenwood for this problem?
