Default Rotel: Good or Bad?

What is the general felling about Rotel: Good or Bad. My current amp is a Rotel (a 1970's model) and I am thinking of upgrading to an RA-1000 (ebay, see below). It is 40 Watts RMS x 2.

I don't know a huge amount about amps, but people seem to like these and they seem like good quality amps to me.

Thanks, Nic.

I used to sell that amplifier when I was a Rotel agent.
It is not to say a bad amplifier but was produced before Rotel became the success that it achieved with the R820 etc.
You can do a lot better these days!
It was always reliable and in your case offered a graphic equalizer

Thanks Trev.

Keeping in mind I want to spend less than AUD$200, does that mean you would advise getting this one more -->

Rotel RA-820BX3

Cheers, Nic.

In its price range the 820 is a real winner ! These were UK designed and Rotel build with a reasonable phono stage
I would expect to Pay about £40 Uk for a reasonable condition unit on Ebay.
It won,t shake the earth for volume but when used with good associated equipment very credible.

regards Trevor
