I recently got quite abit of mileage out of modifying a DJ preamp.
Check out the Gemini PA-7000. For $99 you get nice sheet
metal work, connectors, and knobs. Simply beefing up the PSU
and swapping in better op-amps is an enormous improvement.

Please be more specific ! What do you want the preamp to do.
Is it for phono CD tape or mic?
What are you using it with and what is the final application /use

having built the bugle i'd say it's a pretty good phono stage - very detailed and smooth sound. Couple that with a good volume control (which you can use as a passive pre for line inputs) and a decent input switch and you have a great pre-amp IMHO.

I have built a preamp similar to the bugie about twenty years ago and i would concurr that it will sound good ! As the Opamps are very lightly loaded !
Two stage passive eq I can remember when that was a new idea
As it seams that many of the earlier designers did not realise that the early preamp attempts could not even drive there own feedback networks never mind an external load as well!
but as i have said earlier we need to know your requirements
