Default Looking For Schematics For...

Alright, I've been searching the internet for a good DIY amplifier for some time now. While I have found some schematics which appeal to me like the MOFSET Amp off the Elliot Sound Project site, I haven't been able to find exactly what I am looking for.

I am not looking for any modules, I want to build this amp from the ground up.

These are my requirements:
- Around 400W into 4 Ohms
- <1% THD @ 1V
- I would prefer a MOFSET Design
- I would prefer a Class AB Amp

What I have:
- A 52-0-52 toroid @ 1.2 KVA which gives me about 72VDC at roughly 10A per channel (for a stereo amp)
- Enough Caps to make a 100 000 uf power supply.

Any ideas?

hmm...don't know if it will be good for you but, have you seen the lm4702 from national?seems to have good specs...300w, not 400w but it's simple and...works!

I haven't yet used the LM4702 to drive Lateral MOSFET's -- but I can certainly second RAIKKONEN's enthusiasm for this driver chip -- on my benchtop (not shielded, long power supply leads, RFI all over the place) I have driven about 100 W at 0.01% THD -- and I know that with more care in the layout I can get it down into National's specifications.

The LM4702 has limited current drive capability which lends itself more to LatFets.

Check the Borbely site?

http://www.borbelyaudio.com

Not sure he as anything that will run the rail voltage you spec, but given the work and other parts co$t involved in making a real amp, I'd not base everything on the power transformer at hand?

You can certainly bridge his amps for rather significant power, I've tried it myself with a variant of his basic DC coupled design, and to say the least the result was fairly awesome... maybe too much power.

Also, there are a number of threads on here with rather neat and sophisticated schematics/designs discussed and discected in various threads here at DIYaudio.com. Worth a look.

The AmpLAB Bi240 design appeals to me, especially because of the quick response time, however paying $90US for the schematics is a little steep.
