seems to have worked i get sound but its distorted think its because i'm only using 12v at the moment but the TIP147 gets very hot even when thers no input.

Well has anyone got any ideas? would i be able to run it on 12v at a low level but i think i may have burnt out the tip147

The design is fatally flawed. Just bin it and build something proven. The output transistors sound like you've damaged them at least anyway, and the other components only amount to pence.

I'm working on a design using those Darlington devices at the moment, it's aim is simple to build but good performance.
