Both are on offer. The NAD is costlier. I don't know which way to make the choice for an audiophile friend of mine. But which would eventually be better in their sonic presentation?

Marantz 63SE is older by more than a decade; but the price for the NAD 542 is USD 200 more!!!

Marantz 63 is similar to Philips CD850 mark I or II (look for some threads in the forum).
