hi, ive just assembled my 1st diy amp based on the TDA1554Q
IC ,,it can produce 11wx4 or 22wx2 channels , ive aseembled
everything as shown in the circuit belowe and tested it with my
creative soundcard as the input and 2 40watt rms pioneer
car speakers,, powered it with my diy 12v. 3A PS. :
and have some ques.

-why its clipping at low volumes??! (in winamp its 15% vol.
with the master volume in half) ,, can it be the PS. since this
amp. should get 5A and 12v. when runnig at max.?!

-the datasheets say that ithas 10% THD and its for sure so
much.. how can i deacrease this??

-how can i increase its watt capability , can i make 2 of them and
then bridge or just have to use another more powerful IC like
the TDA8571 ??

-if i use a more volt PS like 14 or even 18 ,should i expect a more
reliable operation?! the datasheets states that its operating input volt. range is 6min. ,14.4typical and 18max...???

thanks alot and sorry for the long ques.!

10% distortion is only at full Power output.
So the distortion is much, much lower
if you lower the Volume.

Full power out at 15% of Pot, this is no fault.
It only indicates that the amplifier has
more than enough gain.
If you use another amplifier with lower voltage gain
you can adjust the level better, use 0-100% on Pot.
Or you can change in your level setting
in the computer software.

Class H amplifiers for Power at 14.4 Volts

If you want some higher power at 12-14.4 volt
these Philips ICs are alternatives.

They store power in 2 outside capacitors and when
the need comes, they are becoming active
and raise the 12-14.4 volt.

Class H
TDA1560: 40 W car radio high power amplifier
TDA1562: 70 W high efficiency power amplifier with diagnostic facility

PHILIPS Audio Amplifiers

Remember that your power supply must have the ability to deliver
more than the power that goes out into the speakers.
For a car battery or a good quality PC-supply
this is no problem.

Bridging TDA1554

I don't think so.
As you see from your diagram they are already bridged.
Each speaker is connected with 2 amplifiers inside TDA1554.
No connection to 0 volts.

For low voltage amplifiers you can get more power
by bridging
or Low impedance speakers.
Two 4 ohms speakers in parallell makes 2 ohm and higher power.
Or else you have to get higher voltage in some way.

Of course if you put higher voltage 15-17 v, the power gets higher.
For power amps, high SPL, high sensitivity, gives louder sound for same power.
If you put 1 watt into speakers, some sounds much higher than other.
SPL, Sound Pressure Level is given in decibel dB.

SP sound pressure it was comes out of your speaker
You can NOT listen to Watt! :att'n:
