quasi complementary amps pro and cons?

Hello from Zülpich, Germany
Iam reparing a Cambridge A70 stereo amp,
it uses 4 pieces 2SD1046 NPN bipolar Transistors per channel,
in a quasi complementary mode.
The sound of this amp is english, or very british.
It sounds good with my Altec voice of the theater speakers.
The question is, if this quasi topology is the reason for this
typical sound ?
And, make it still sense to build new amps today with
quasi complementary topology due to the fact that
better real complementary NPN / PNP pairs are available?
Does anybody notice a sound difference between
this circuit topologies?
Cheers, Armin

Cambrigde A70 quasi complementary bipolar amp

Hello,

yes, I saw this article. But this is for N-channel Mosfets, and my question is about NPN bipolar Transistors.
And in this article I did not find answers for my questions,
thatswhy I opened a new one.

update:
Cambridge amp is running now, hiss is audible loudly when no signal is applied, with the high efficient altecs.
Main transformer is humming mechanically.
But it makes fun to listen.
Cheers, Armin
