I want to make any cheap transistor amplifier.I look for any very simple amp with good sounding like the DoGC,but this amp from WidowMaker is very commercial.I look for may be 25-30 W @8 Ohms from mono block. May be the reply is under my nose, but I can`t find it,help me.
I have one GainClone, but I look for a little natural sounding.

Hi,

there is a commercially manufactured audiophile hungarian amplifier, called Canopus.
It can be easly modied. Better transistors, good passive components, etc...
I think it's so simple.

Regards,

Hi ZuMbAiU
If you would like a very natural and excellent sounding amplifier, that is also very affordable, then you should have a look at the Simple Killer Amp(SKA) by Greg Ball. Just have a look at the Simple Killer Amp Listening Thread and the Simple Killer Amp Constructor Thread.

Also, have a look at his website (click on GURU) http://members.dodo.com.au/~gregball/guru_001.htm

You are all right about Vbe multiplier. When this amp is DIY-ed, than a safer Vbe mult. needed.

Spec's and other infos in the manufacturer page:
In english: http://www.heedaudio.hu/en/prod_el.html
Deutsch: http://www.heedaudio.hu/de/prod_el.html
Magyarul: http://www.heedaudio.hu/hu/term_el.html

There are several modified version of this amp. For example using simple darlington output instead of the CFP, improve PSRR with two diodes, resistors and elkos, etc... It's your choice to make it better.

Hi,
the posted schematic is based on sziklai (compound follower) output stage.
There are many warning that this is more difficult to set up.

Maybe a more easily set up emitter follower pair would be better for a beginner.

Yes, swap the pot for the lower resistor and up the resistor from 220r to 1k0.

Hungarian people don't make a short at output ?
Four transistors ? Is amazing, which miracles can do with them....
If short circuit happens maximum of four transistors will burn. C'mon, don't you see logic in it?
Pawel, calm down, let people invertigate for truth themselves. Now, I think simplicity basically sucks, but three years ago I didn't know and had to check it MYSELF.
On the other hand, some people build nice circuits with immediate complication and are happy with them...

Yes, it is every man's matter....But I still don't understand, why people can do something simplest as possible...It is not about price, transistors are now dirt-cheap...Is it about understanding of function of circuit ? Probably not, 'cos if you will be understand to function of four transistor one, probably you will understand eight or more one too.... Why people like these " stone age " schematics ? Why aren't simply integrated audio circuits ? Do you perceive, that for some " apostles of simplicity " is it all splendid business ?

The 10W JLH's are resting now somewhere on the ceiling. For all day use have class A 30W hybrid, E88CC front end with Mosfet current amplifier, with 120W PS/channel toroids.
Disadvantage: you need a lot of powersupplies, but it sounds better then the JHL
